Breast Cancer is a fight far too many New Zealand women have, and for each of those women, it’s a fight that’s life changing.
25 years ago, Dr Ian Campbell, a Breast Cancer Surgeon, and Jenni Scarlet, a Research Nurse, saw a way to work towards achieving better outcomes for patients with breast cancer, and established the Breast Cancer Research Trust.
Its purpose? To improve patient outcomes with evidence-based breast cancer research.
Spreading the word
This year, the Trust celebrates a quarter century of involvement in local and international research trials which focus on using the latest research advances to prevent and cure breast cancer.
And helping to spread the word is Brainchild.
“Our pro bono work for BCRT is incredibly rewarding,” says Angela March, Brainchild founder. “The Trust is a hidden Waikato success story that is leading the way in clinical trials, protocols, and therapy. Being able to raise awareness of this vital work that is taking place right here in our region is something we take pride in being able to offer.”

Stories with impact
Over the last three years, Brainchild has helped secure over 25 pieces of media coverage, profiling patient stories, sharing the impact of the Trust’s work and creating opportunities for Jenni to speak widely on the advancements in breast cancer patient care.
“The Trust doesn’t receive any government funding and relies solely on philanthropic support to undertake its research,” says Angela. “This is why it’s so important for the Trust’s story to be understood and reach organisations and individuals who can help ensure the work continues.”
Brainchild is committed to donating time to sharing the Trust’s stories, research, and activity. See some of our coverage below:
